Lab Introduction
In the Neural Engineering and Control Laboratory at Kumoh National Institute of Technology, we develop various medical and rehabilitation systems using neural signals (e.g., EEG and EMG) for people with physical or functional damages. In particular, we focus on the development of brain-computer interface (BCI) systems that can help paralyzed people who cannot freely move their bodies to control external devices, such as wheelchair, robotic arm, and computer, using their thoughts (brain signals), and also myoelectric prosthesis control systems that can help amputees to control prosthetic hands using residual muscles. Besides, we conduct the research based on bio information, such as EOG, ECG, and SPO2, in order to develop medical/life applications.
Research Area
- brain-computer interface
- Myoelectric prosthetic control
- Neurorehabilitation
- Biosignal analysis based on machine learning
Recruitment
Fully-funded MS, PhD and post-doctoral positions are available in the Neural Engineering and Control (NEC) Laboratory directed by Prof. Han-Jeong Hwang at Kumoh National Institute of Technology, Republic of Korea. Successful candidates will be involved in the projects, aiming at developing practical brain-computer interface (BCI) systems (http://nec.kumoh.ac.kr/).
