“We foster key talents who will lead the optical industry.”
Leading growth of new industries such as optical communications and optical engineering High employment in display and optical digital field
Optical engineering is a field of study in which optics is applied in terms of engineering. Electromagnetic waves exhibit various characteristics according to their wavelengths; light is electromagnetic waves in the visible region. This is why the waves are being utilized in electronic devices or machines that we directly use, as well as in optical communications. The optical industry is expected to grow very rapidly worldwide, and the domestic field is no exception.
The department of optical engineering designs and operates a system of fostering talents based on these trends of development and characteristics of optical engineering and optical industry. Its curriculum presents both theories and experiments for clear understanding of optics and methods and cases in which optics is applied to various relevant fields, helping students build knowledge and experience systematically.
Careers after graduation
Electronic companies manufacturing display, optics-related researchers in medical equipment companies, optical engineering manufacturing digital camera, R&D personnel in companies related to LED and laser, R&D personnel related to optical system design such as camera lens and car headlight
Sources of pride
- Widely applied in various engineering fields such as machine, materials, and electronics
- Systematic education on optical theories and technology
