We educate and train future leaders in optical engineering industry.
Optical engineering is the field of study focusing on applications of optics. The Department of Optical Engineering at kit aims to train students into the engineers that will play key roles in the rapidly growing field of optical engineering. Optical engineering is a field with a strong interdisciplinary character emphasizing applications in diverse areas of engineering including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, material engineering, and medical engineering. Consequently there is higher demand for talented optical engineers in these areas than the traditional optical industry such as optical lens and camera manufacturing companies. More and more graduates from our department are getting jobs in these fields.
The Graduate Department of Optical Engineering provides academic and training programs optimized for the interdisciplinary character of and growing industrial demand in our field with academic curriculum focusing on optics and optical engineering.
We educate and train graduate students as the optical engineers that will eventually serve as the leaders in this rapidly growing industry. For this purpose, we provide programs that will help students develop practical creativity useful in the industry in addition to the courses in optics and engineering applications.
